Clearly, what we may describe as particles of dark matter (WIMPS, 7x proton mass) could be simply a more modern form of the idea of a classical luminiferous aether.
Think about this, some laws the same or for all practical purposes so if some "particles" do not register the idea of "acceleration". Same old problems but in more complicated new bottles.
