Science and Society

A comment today to thereferenceframe.blogspot.com : IQ and sex differences post.

What sort of science is this? Consider this Lubos. The sciencechatforum com today had a discussion about an article in science and our resident Fermi scientist, Lincoln, suggests a science and society (not the same as that title for book) cross discussion with the philosophers. It is on climate change and how society sees scientists.

Now do we understand IQ really in the first place? Lincoln says we should defend science against such opinion that does not understand the method. But is this anything he is telling us new- since the dawn of science its independence was sought from the existing authority such as the church- but maybe science today is making a dangerous argument that they are not just independent but the new authority.
